NFL Draft

I'm not really the type to follow the NFL draft - except of course, when there are Huskers. And last year it was fun to watch the pretty-boy quarterback from Notre Dame sit and squirm for a long time. Brody something? Can't even remember his name. I just remember that Notre Dame was so in love with him, and I'm so NOT in love with Notre Dame. Sidenote - remember the record THEY had in 2007? That's one thing that can give me solace anytime.

Anyway, I was a little surprised that Zac Bowman got drafted so highly. We hardly got to see him do anything here. He must have impressed the combine people. Usually when I think of "combine people" I think of John Deere, but that's another topic. Anyway, good for him.

Poor Sam Keller. I really liked him, and even though I prefer a QB that moves out of the pocket and can deliver some pain (See Eric Crouch video on sidebar), I thought he was talented and had a good attitude. Hopefully he'll find an opportunity somewhere.

Best wishes to the other Huskers who were drafted, signed on in free agency, or invited to work out with any team. Hope to see you guys on Sunday, and Monday, and sometimes Thursday.

Congrats to Mike Rucker on his retirement. I really love Mike Minter, and he retired a year or two ago also. Both Carolina Panthers, and for their whole career. That's rare, I think. So cool to see Husker greats make good on their talents for a few more years.

And I heard that the Huskers winning ANYTHING in baseball in Waco was no small feat. Way to go to the baseball team!

Yea - Husker love everywhere!

Pelini goes a-checkin'

Just looked at an article from the ESPN box down below about the Kansas and Oklahoma's offenses. On the side was a short article about how Pelini and his assistant coaches are keeping a hawk's eye on their players. Late-night bar checks and random class checks. Wow! You aren't going to pull one over on this guy, no way. He means business, and that's cool.

You go, Bo!

Husker baseball on a rampage

I'm just listening to the Husker baseball game against Creighton in Rosenblatt - wow! It's now 16-4, a whopping 13 runs scored in the 5th inning alone. I'm not sure if I'll be able to write after the game or not, so this will have to count.

Like the commentators are saying, the baseball must look like the size of a grapefruit to the batters right now. Man alive!

GO BIG RED!

Welcome to Husker Dork

Hi Husker Fans!

Right now, I realize I'm only writing to myself. That's OK, that how devoted I am to the Huskers. I just take pleasure in expressing myself about them.

I recently made what I called a "big dork" Husker confession to a good Husker friend - I listen to Sports Nightly nearly every night to hear about the Huskers. I do this year round, mostly when I'm either cooking supper or we've already sat down to supper as a family. So, the name Husker Dork has stuck in my head and it pretty well fits.

My husband is a Husker fan, but I think his dorkdom has slipped. It's OK, I'll still keep him ;) Meanwhile, I'm trying to instill some real Husker love in my girls. I'm proud to be an informed aware female Husker fan. I'm not one to wants to watch American Idol or go shopping while the game is on. I'm watching the game!

Last night I came across some neat articles about Brook Berringer. Brought back a lot of memories about his last two seasons, and where I was when I heard the devistating news of his death. His plan crashed not far from where I went to high school near Raymond, so I feel a little connection there. I never met him personally, but what a human being.

Anyway, I'll say goodbye for now. More about the Spring Game and other interesting things.
